Terms & conditions
Last updated: 06.11.2026
Welcome to MentorMatch. By creating an account and using the platform, you accept the following Terms and Conditions. These Terms are accepted by ticking the checkbox when creating an account on MentorMatch.
1. About the Platform
MentorMatch is an online platform that connects students and tutors for private tutoring and academic support.
MentorMatch acts solely as an intermediary between users and is not a party to the tutoring arrangements or agreements entered into between students and tutors.
2. User Accounts
Users are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and up-to-date information
- Keeping login credentials confidential
- Using the platform lawfully and responsibly
Users must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the platform. By creating an account, the user confirms that they meet this age requirement.
MentorMatch reserves the right to suspend or delete user accounts in the event of misuse or violation of these Terms.
3. Matching and Contact Details
Students can send applications to tutors through the platform. The MentorMatch process works as follows:
- The student sends an application to a tutor.
- The tutor may accept or reject the application.
- Once the tutor has accepted the request, the tutor may pay for access to the student's contact details.
- Contact details are shared only after payment has been completed.
MentorMatch does not guarantee that a match will result in a tutoring arrangement or an ongoing collaboration between the parties.
4. Payment
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers, such as Stripe.
Tutors pay for access to contact details and not for a guaranteed tutoring arrangement. Payment for the tutoring itself is agreed upon and settled directly between the student and the tutor. MentorMatch receives no payment for tutoring sessions and charges no commission on them.
Current prices are displayed on the platform's pricing page. MentorMatch does not offer subscriptions unless clearly stated on the platform. Prices and payment terms may change from time to time and will be displayed on the platform.
By purchasing access to contact details, the tutor agrees that delivery of the digital service begins immediately after payment has been completed. Once the contact details have been made available to the tutor, the service is considered delivered. The tutor acknowledges that the right of withdrawal expires once the digital service has been fully delivered and the contact details have been made available.
5. Refunds
MentorMatch charges a one-time fee for access to the student's contact information. The fee is payment for access to the contact information and does not constitute payment for or a guarantee of a tutoring arrangement.
MentorMatch may refund the one-time fee in the following cases:
- The contact information is invalid or obviously incorrect.
- The request is deemed to be spam, fraudulent, or an abuse of the platform.
- The student states that they did not send the request.
- After the tutor has accepted, the student informs MentorMatch that they no longer wish to receive tutoring, provided that the tutoring has not yet started.
In cases where the student has changed their mind and no longer wishes to receive tutoring, MentorMatch may ask the tutor to provide documentation of this, such as a message or email from the student.
If the tutoring has already started, the one-time fee will not be refunded. This also applies if the student and tutor subsequently decide to end the tutoring arrangement.
If the student and tutor provide conflicting information about what happened, MentorMatch will assess the case individually. A refund will not automatically be granted based solely on one party's account of events.
As a general rule, a refund must be requested no later than 14 days after the tutor has been given access to the student's contact information.
MentorMatch may, in special cases, issue a refund following an individual assessment of the circumstances.
6. Conduct and Misuse
The following is not permitted:
- Sending spam
- Sharing false or misleading information
- Sharing contact details in profile descriptions
- Sharing contact details in messages sent through the platform
- Attempting to bypass the platform's payment system
- Misusing other users' information
- Using the platform for unlawful purposes
MentorMatch may suspend or permanently block users in the event of suspected misuse or violation of these rules.
7. Limitation of Liability
MentorMatch is not responsible for:
- The quality of tutoring
- Agreements between students and tutors
- Financial losses between users
- Disputes between users
- Actions taken by users on or off the platform
Use of the platform is at the user's own risk. MentorMatch is not a party to payment agreements between students and tutors and cannot guarantee that payment will be completed between users.
Users who intentionally fail to pay for agreed tutoring services may have their accounts suspended or permanently removed.
Tutors are solely responsible for complying with applicable tax and VAT regulations regarding income earned through tutoring arranged via the platform. MentorMatch is not responsible for tutors' tax obligations or reporting to the tax authorities.
8. Changes
MentorMatch may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Users will be informed of any significant changes.
